SolarBank Corporation announced on April 29, 2025, its plans to develop a 7.2 MW DC ground-mount solar power project, known as the Glor Rd project, in upstate New York. This project is a key addition to the company's expanding development pipeline, which exceeds one gigawatt, and is expected to power 850 homes.
The project has a secured site lease and an interconnection study underway. It will be eligible for the Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) rate compensation mechanism under NY Public Utility Commission case 15-E-0751, with a projected year one average compensation of $0.0971 per kWh.
The Glor Rd project is also expected to be eligible for incentives under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) NY-Sun Program, with SolarBank targeting incentives of up to $0.245 per W DC. These incentives are one-time payments designed to support project financing. Solar Simplified will handle customer-facing activities for the community solar project.
