SolarBank Corporation announced on October 29, 2024, its plans to develop a 7.2 MW DC ground-mount solar power project, known as the North Main project, in Wyoming County, New York. This project is a key component of SolarBank's development pipeline, which exceeds one gigawatt.

The company has secured a site lease and initiated an interconnection study for the project, which is expected to power over 850 homes. The North Main project is also anticipated to be eligible for incentives under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) NY-Sun Program.

SolarBank's strategy focuses on community solar, allowing renters and homeowners to receive credits on their electricity bills from clean energy generated by the project without installing panels on their own properties. The company will continue to work on permitting and financing for the project's construction.
