TransMedics Group, Inc. has signed a 16‑year lease for a 498,000‑square‑foot building at Assembly Innovation Park in Somerville, Massachusetts, and purchased adjacent land and a portion of the parking structure for a combined $30 million. The new campus will bring corporate, research, development, and advanced‑manufacturing operations under one roof, with occupancy slated for 2028.

The move is designed to accelerate the company’s next‑generation organ‑care‑system innovations and expand its National OCS Program. By co‑locating its core functions, TransMedics expects to streamline workflows, reduce inter‑departmental handoffs, and attract top talent in a region that hosts leading academic and clinical transplant centers.

Waleed Hassanein, M.D., president and CEO, said the new headquarters marks a “critical milestone for our mid‑ and long‑term growth initiatives” and that the facility will “provide the infrastructure, flexibility, and long‑term growth capacity we need to support our teams and the broader transplant community.”

The consolidated campus will also support the company’s expansion of the National OCS Program into Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, and will serve as the launchpad for the upcoming OCS kidney platform. The integrated environment is expected to enhance product development cycles and shorten time‑to‑market for new devices.

TransMedics has built a high‑margin recurring‑revenue model through transplant‑related fees and single‑use component sales. The company’s strong cash position and disciplined capital allocation give it the flexibility to invest in the new facility while maintaining its focus on innovation and patient outcomes.

The Somerville location places TransMedics in the heart of the Greater Boston life‑sciences ecosystem, benefiting from state and local incentives and proximity to world‑class research institutions. The move underscores the company’s commitment to positioning itself at the center of the transplant technology community.
