Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. introduced new lines of floor-model centrifuges, including the Thermo Scientific™ Cryofuge™, BIOS, and LYNX series, which are the first to feature natural refrigerant cooling systems compliant with European Union and U.S. EPA F-gas regulations. These centrifuges offer more sustainable solutions without compromising performance or sample security.
The new centrifuges incorporate Thermo Scientific™ GreenCool Technology, which has a Global Warming Potential of 1, making it 1,397 times less impactful to the environment compared to previous technologies. They are manufactured at Thermo Fisher’s certified zero-waste facility in Osterode am Harz, Germany, which is powered by 100% renewable energy.
These sustainable innovations also deliver significant operational benefits, with energy savings of up to 15% compared to previous models. For instance, the Cryofuge 8 and 16 Blood Banking Centrifuges offer a 14% reduction in energy consumption, while the BIOS A and 16 Centrifuges provide up to 15% lower energy use, and LYNX centrifuges offer up to 13% less energy consumption.
