The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) has approved Public Service Company of New Mexico's (PNM) Grid Modernization Plan. This initiative, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TXNM Energy, aims to upgrade its grid infrastructure with advanced technology to enhance resilience, reliability, and efficiency. The approved plan represents the initial phase of a broader grid modernization effort, focusing on integrating smart meters and distribution upgrades. These improvements are specifically prioritized for low-income and underserved communities, providing them with real-time energy usage insights and improved affordability. The six-year plan includes $344 million in capital investments, supported by a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis. Consistent with state legislation, these approved investments will be recovered through an annually reviewed tariff rider, ensuring a predictable financial framework for PNM.
