Textron Aviation announced that its new midsize business jet, the Cessna Citation Ascend, entered service on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, following FAA type certification in November. The first retail customer received the aircraft on that day, marking the Ascend’s operational debut.
The Ascend is equipped with a Garmin G5000 avionics suite, a flat‑floor cabin that can accommodate up to 12 passengers, and Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D engines that deliver a maximum speed of 441 knots and a four‑passenger range of 1,940 nautical miles. An unattended Honeywell RE100 APU supports efficient preflight operations.
In 2024, Textron Aviation delivered 151 business jets, placing it third in the market and adding to the more than 1,000 deliveries of the Citation 560XL family. The midsize segment has seen strong demand, and the Ascend’s advanced features position it to compete with Bombardier, Gulfstream, Dassault, and Embraer.
Financially, Textron Aviation reported $1.3 billion in revenue for Q4 2024, a decline driven by strike‑related production disruptions. Textron Inc. forecasts $14.7 billion in revenue for 2025, with the aviation segment expected to be a key growth driver.
Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing Lannie O’Bannion said, “The first Citation Ascend delivery underscores Textron Aviation’s commitment to redefining the midsize segment with an aircraft that blends innovation, efficiency, and unmatched comfort.”
The Ascend’s entry expands Textron’s midsize jet portfolio at a time when demand remains robust, and the company anticipates that the new model will help capture additional market share and accelerate future revenue growth.
