Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. company, announced on December 10, 2024, it was awarded a contract valued up to $106 million by the U.S. Navy. The contract is for Mine Sweeping Payload Delivery Systems (PDS), supporting Mine Countermeasure Mission Package (MCMMP) PDS production, spares, and engineering services. This award allows the Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV) system to complete mine sweeping missions semi-autonomously, advancing its capabilities. The Minesweeping PDS will sweep for magnetic, acoustic, and magnetic/acoustic combination mines using a towed acoustic generator and magnetic minesweeping cable. David Phillips, Senior Vice President Air, Land and Sea Systems, emphasized that the MCM mission package enhances the Navy's abilities with USVs, providing additional security for sailors. Textron Systems has supported the Navy's Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS) design/production contract since 2014, achieving Initial Operational Capability (IOC) for UISS in 2022.
