Uber Technologies has broadened its grocery delivery service by adding nearly 2,700 Kroger Family of Companies stores to its Uber Eats, Uber, and Postmates apps across the United States. The rollout covers full assortments from major Kroger banners—including Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Smith’s, Fry’s, Harris Teeter, and Mariano’s—allowing customers to order groceries, household essentials, and more with on‑demand and same‑day delivery.

The partnership offers a range of promotional incentives: first orders from the participating banners can receive up to 50% off, and Uber One members enjoy $0 delivery fees on eligible orders. These offers are designed to accelerate adoption, increase basket size, and deepen cross‑platform engagement for Uber’s growing delivery ecosystem.

For Uber, the deal signals a decisive push into the high‑growth grocery delivery market, positioning the company against Amazon, Instacart, and DoorDash. By leveraging Kroger’s extensive store network, Uber can deliver groceries faster and more reliably, while the Uber One benefits help lock in repeat usage across rides, food, and now grocery services. The partnership also supports Uber’s broader strategy of transforming its platform into a comprehensive on‑demand marketplace.

Kroger benefits by extending its online presence without building new fulfillment centers. The partnership allows the retailer to tap Uber’s delivery network for same‑day service, complementing its existing Instacart and DoorDash arrangements. This multi‑platform approach helps Kroger reduce reliance on automated fulfillment and meet consumer demand for convenient, in‑store pickup and rapid delivery.

Market reaction to the announcement was modest but positive for both Uber and Kroger, reflecting investor optimism about the expanded reach and competitive advantage. Instacart’s stock dipped, indicating that the partnership is viewed as a direct competitive threat to the existing grocery‑delivery player.

"Customers’ needs evolve constantly, and at Kroger, we’re committed to meeting them with solutions that fit every moment," said Jody Kalmbach, vice president of Kroger’s e‑commerce group. "Making Kroger’s banners available across Uber’s apps gives shoppers a simple, reliable way to get their weekly groceries or last‑minute items whenever they need them," added Hashim Amin, Uber’s North American head of grocery and retail.
