U-Haul Holding Company finalized the acquisition of the 20 E. Thomas Road skyscraper in Midtown Phoenix on December 6, 2024. This 548,938-square-foot, 25-floor building, now known as The U-Haul Tower, will serve as the new headquarters for U-Haul International and its subsidiaries. This acquisition represents a significant investment in the company's corporate infrastructure.
The U-Haul Tower is the tallest high-rise outside of Downtown Phoenix, trailing only the Chase Tower and U.S. Bank Center in the state. U-Haul plans a thoughtful transition of its field-support teams from 2727 N. Central Ave. to the new location over the next 24 months. This move consolidates operations and reflects U-Haul's long-standing presence in Phoenix since 1967.
Sam Shoen, Vice Chair of U-Haul Holding Company, stated that the move is both symbolic and substantive, reflecting the company's position as an industry and community leader. Chairman Joe Shoen added that the acquisition will help build efficiency at the home office to better support field teams. This strategic investment underscores U-Haul's commitment to its workforce and future growth.
