U-Haul opened a new repair shop at 1235 E. Baseline St. in San Bernardino, California, on July 28, 2025, creating 60 jobs. This 4.5-acre facility is strategically located to service the company's rental fleet across San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Thomas Mitchell, U-Haul Company of San Bernardino president, emphasized the new space provides a clean, safe location for Team Members. This new repair shop replaces the U-Haul repair shop at 891 S. Arrowhead Ave. in San Bernardino, which closed in late June after 54 years of service. The closure of the older facility resulted in 37 Team Members being let go. The property at S. Arrowhead Ave. will be repurposed as U-Box of San Bernardino, a 30,000-square-foot warehouse capable of storing up to 2,500 portable moving containers. The strategic relocation and upgrade of repair capabilities represent a net increase in jobs for the San Bernardino community, with 60 new positions created compared to 37 layoffs. The repurposing of the old site for U-Box expansion further enhances U-Haul's integrated service offerings. This move optimizes operational efficiency and expands portable storage capacity in the region.
