U-Haul began serving Twin Cities customers at three new self-storage facilities on September 19, 2025, offering nearly 2,600 combined indoor self-storage units with climate-control options and high-tech security features. These properties, previously Extra Space Storage locations, were acquired on September 18, 2025. The new facilities are U-Haul Storage at American Blvd. in Minneapolis, U-Haul Storage of St. Paul, and U-Haul Moving & Storage of New Hope in Minneapolis.
U-Haul also unveiled plans for a new full-service center, U-Haul Moving & Storage of Ramsey, scheduled for completion by fall 2026. This center will be U-Haul Company of Northern Minnesota’s first ground-up build on an 8.73-acre property. It will encompass seven buildings with 1,150 indoor climate-controlled and drive-up storage units, along with a U-Box warehouse for up to 800 portable moving containers.
Kellin Sybrant, Area District Vice President, stated that U-Haul consistently focuses on increasing customer convenience and is excited to provide these locations to Minnesotans. The company intends to hire up to 26 new Team Members to staff and maintain the three newly opened stores, and as many as 20 Team Members for the Ramsey store when it is built. This expansion significantly bolsters U-Haul's self-storage footprint in Minnesota.
