The U-Haul center at 15237 Edgewood Drive in Brainerd, Minnesota, closed its retail showroom and converted to a remote self-storage facility on June 24, 2025. All other services were halted, resulting in five Team Members being let go. The facility continues to provide U-Haul Truck Share 24/7, a rental option allowing for self-pick-up and self-return of trucks via smartphone. U-Haul Storage North Baxter is now operated by the parent store, U-Haul Moving & Storage of Brainerd, located two miles away at 16707 State Hwy. 37. Customers can access a broader range of services, including storage products, truck and trailer rentals, towing devices, and moving supplies, from the parent store. Future plans for U-Haul of Brainerd include U-Box portable moving containers, professional hitch installation, and propane. Local U-Haul Companies continuously explore opportunities for growth and sometimes find it necessary to close or relocate stores, shops, offices, and services. Reasons for such changes can include long-term strategic plans, physical site conditions, shifts in demographics, and proximity to other new or existing Company locations. This move reflects an operational adjustment to optimize U-Haul's network in the region.
