Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher Steps Down, Fernando Fernandez Appointed Successor

Unilever announced on February 25, 2025, that Hein Schumacher will step down as CEO in March, less than two years after taking the helm. Current Chief Financial Officer Fernando Fernandez will succeed him, with his new role effective March 1.

Schumacher, who assumed the CEO position in July 2023, was tasked with leading a significant overhaul of the consumer goods giant. His departure is by mutual agreement, and he will leave the company on May 31.

The company stated there is no change to its 2025 outlook or medium-term guidance following this announcement. Srinivas Phatak, current deputy CFO, will take over as interim CFO. This leadership transition aims to continue the execution of Unilever's Growth Action Plan 2030.
