UL Solutions announced new testing capabilities for low-global-warming-potential (LGWP) refrigerants at its Zhongshan, China, laboratory. This initiative aims to help heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) manufacturers meet new regulations and transition to more sustainable refrigerants.
The new capabilities address the flammability risks associated with LGWP refrigerants, including A2L and A3 classifications. Testing is based on updated UL Standards for electrical heat pumps, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and commercial refrigerating appliances and ice makers.
This investment provides a holistic solution for manufacturers in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region to demonstrate product performance and meet requirements for refrigerant leak detection. It supports environmental sustainability goals and helps manufacturers understand fire science for innovative product development.
