Americas Gold and Silver Corporation announced the completion of Phase 1 upgrades to the No. 3 Shaft at its 100% owned Galena Complex in Idaho, USA, ahead of schedule. The upgrade was finished in just 10 days, four days shorter than planned, demonstrating efficient execution by the operational team.
This first phase of upgrades has already increased the shaft's skipping capacity from approximately 40 tons per hour (tph) to 80 tph, representing a 100% improvement. The enhancements included work on the hoist motor, lilies, brakes, and the introduction of hoist-control automation, which are critical for boosting overall mine productivity and cost efficiencies.
The company now expects to reach approximately 100 tph after the completion of Phase 2 upgrades, which are scheduled before the end of the year. Furthermore, a spare 2,250 hp hoist motor for the primary No. 3 shaft is now available, providing critical backup capacity and de-risking the mine plan at Galena.
