U.S. Bancorp announced the appointment of Courtney Kelso as Senior Executive Vice President and head of Payments: Consumer and Small Business (PCS), effective February 3. In this Managing Committee role, Kelso will oversee personal and small business debit and credit cards, Elan, cobrand, and all related functions.
Kelso will report to company President Gunjan Kedia and brings over 17 years of experience from American Express in consumer and small business payments. Her deep expertise in payments strategy, branding, and marketing is expected to enhance U.S. Bank's payments franchise.
This appointment follows the planned retirement of Shailesh Kotwal and the strategic decision to split the Payment Services division into PCS and Payments: Merchant and Institutional (PMI). The new structure aims to fully recognize the size, scale, and strategic importance of the payments business.
