On April 17, 2025, Energy Fuels Inc. announced it has developed the technical ability to commercially produce six of the seven rare earth oxides now subject to Chinese export controls. These include samarium, gadolinium, dysprosium, terbium, lutetium, and yttrium oxides. The company's White Mesa Mill in Utah, which already processes monazite ore into separated neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) oxide, can be expanded to produce these additional rare earth oxides. Energy Fuels believes this expansion could be achieved within a twelve-month period with appropriate U.S. government support or favorable market conditions. This development aligns with President Trump's Executive Order on April 15, 2025, directing a Section 232 investigation into imports of processed critical minerals. Energy Fuels believes this action has the potential to strengthen domestic supply chains and enable increased U.S. production of critical materials like rare earths, uranium, and vanadium.
