VEON Ltd. announced on March 21, 2025, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airspan Networks Holdings LLC, a U.S.-based provider of Open RAN solutions. The collaboration aims to evaluate technical and commercial synergies for resilient network solutions in Ukraine.
The partnership will explore opportunities for the development, deployment, and testing of innovative network solutions tailored to enhance communications infrastructure resilience in extreme conditions. This includes leveraging advanced wireless technologies such as Open RAN and Air-to-Land network solutions.
Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu stated that this initiative is part of VEON and Kyivstar's commitment to investing USD 1 billion to rebuild Ukraine’s digital infrastructure over 2023-2027. Airspan brings extensive expertise, having built large Open RAN networks globally, which will be crucial for strengthening Ukraine's connectivity.
