Woodside Energy has announced it will take over operatorship of the Bass Strait oil and gas assets from ExxonMobil. This strategic move is expected to unlock an estimated $60 million in synergies.

The transfer of operatorship is a significant development for Woodside's Australian portfolio. It also has the potential to facilitate the further development of additional gas resources in the Bass Strait.

Woodside and ExxonMobil's equity interests in the assets, as well as current decommissioning plans and provisions, remain unchanged. This transition allows Woodside to consolidate its operational control over key Australian assets.
