Woodside Energy has officially begun construction on its $17.5 billion Louisiana LNG Project, celebrating the rapid progress at a groundbreaking ceremony in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. This marks a significant transition from planning to active development for the major facility.

The Louisiana LNG Project is recognized as the largest foreign direct investment in the state’s history, underscoring its economic significance. The ceremony was attended by leaders from the local community and state and federal governments.

This operational milestone follows Woodside's final investment decision and strategic partnerships, solidifying its commitment to the project. Construction is now underway to bring the three-train, 16.5 million tonne per annum facility online, targeting first LNG in 2029.
