Delta Gas, a subsidiary of Essential Utilities, announced the start of commercial operations at a new Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility at the Laurel Ridge Landfill in Lily, Kentucky. This landmark facility is a collaboration with Vision RNG and Waste Connections, Inc. The innovative plant converts landfill gas into RNG, which is then injected into Delta Gas's pipeline network, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil-derived natural gas. The facility processes approximately 2,250 standard cubic feet per minute of landfill gas, producing an estimated 450,000 MMBtu of RNG annually. This project represents a significant step in advancing renewable energy and benefits the environment by utilizing landfill gas. John Brown, President of Delta Natural Gas, expressed pride in this being the first RNG facility in their Kentucky service territory.
