XCharge North America and Energy Plus announced a partnership to construct a battery‑backed electric‑vehicle charging depot in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, slated to go live in the second quarter of 2026. The depot will house 44 GridLink units, providing 9.46 MWh of energy storage and serving 88 parking spaces, positioning it as one of the largest such facilities in the United States.
The GridLink battery‑integrated technology enables high‑power DC fast charging without the need for immediate grid upgrades. By storing energy during off‑peak periods and discharging it during peak demand, the depot will reduce strain on New York City’s grid and offer a resilient, high‑density charging solution for both individual drivers and commercial fleets.
Energy Plus will operate the facility under its Eplug brand, leveraging its New York‑based expertise in energy efficiency and electrification. The partnership is backed by NRG Energy, situating the depot within a broader network of urban charging infrastructure.
The project is part of XCharge’s broader U.S. expansion strategy, which includes a new manufacturing facility in Texas. The depot demonstrates the scalability of XCharge’s battery‑integrated chargers in dense urban environments, addressing a key pain point for cities with limited grid capacity.
XCHG Limited, the parent company, reported a 26.3% decline in revenue and a net loss of $1.0 million in its most recent quarter, reflecting challenges in its European delivery pipeline. Despite these headwinds, the company’s consensus “Sell” rating and the partnership signal confidence in its technology and long‑term growth prospects.
Aatish Patel, co‑founder and president of XCharge NA, said the collaboration “proves that the EV transition can thrive domestically, setting a model for how public and private companies can come together to accelerate the clean energy transition and make urban energy cleaner, faster, and smarter.” The depot’s launch is expected to strengthen XCharge’s market position against competitors such as Revel, which also operates large charging hubs in Williamsburg.
