Exxon Mobil announced a $100 million investment to upgrade its Baton Rouge, Louisiana, chemical plant. The upgrade will enable the facility to produce a highly pure form of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for the tech industry.
This ultra-pure IPA is used to clean and process microchips, a critical component in the growing semiconductor sector. Production is expected to begin after 2027, supplying 99.999% isopropyl alcohol to U.S. fabs.
This strategic investment diversifies ExxonMobil's Product Solutions segment into a high-value market. It leverages the company's chemical manufacturing expertise to meet specialized industrial demands and enhance its earnings potential.
